Welcome to my site – I’m glad you’ve stopped by! For a very long time I’ve been thinking about life, and how our experiences shape us. Sharing my thoughts, perspectives and stories through writing, is what this site is all about.
The topics on this site are ones that I am passionate about, and I think the best way to tell you “About” me, is to tell you about them.
In August of 2019 I began writing a bi-weekly column for a local paper, and I chose to write about something I feel is widely experienced, yet gets little conversational attention – living mid-life! You can find my column, The Mid-life Experience , in the Rohnert Park Community Voice newspaper every other Friday: http://www.thecommunityvoice.com/ I’ll also be posting them here on my site, regularly.
From my family of origin to the family I created to the families I have observed all my life – the topic of “family” has long captivated me. Is it any wonder then, that at a young age I would embark on the journey of starting one of my own? And what a journey it has been; I am now blessed with four adult children, their spouses and soon-to-be six grandkids! I am doubly blessed to have a wonderful man and husband of 9 years, Robert Caruso, at my side. In the movie, Parenthood (1989), Grandma tells a little story of her favorite carnival ride – one that is both exhilarating and terrifying: the roller coaster. I would agree with you Grandma – it’s been quite a ride and these joyous highs and desperate lows have informed and fueled many of the thoughts I’ll share in Parenting & Families.
Ok, if I had to pick my “#1 Favorite” thing about life, it would be this: Life gives us opportunities to learn, grow and reinvent ourselves. Sometimes I just want to run through meadows or stand on rooftops and shout, “This is so cool!!!” In Overcoming & Reinventing, I’ll tell stories of triumphs, disasters and lessons learned in this crazy, wonderful journey we call life.
Admitting this next thing may raise an eyebrow or two, but it’s the truth – every morning I am literally excited to wake up and go to work! My road to this fulfilling place has not been easy, but is a story worth sharing in Work Life & Vocational Discovery. Hopefully as you read these tales, you’ll pick up some great tips and insights for yourself!
And last, but definitely not least… When I was five years old, a conversation with my dad laid a path for the rest of my life: he told me about Heaven. My faith was born that day and my course of life, shaped. In My Life of Choice, I’ll talk about what it’s like to be a spiritual being, having a human experience.
Thank you for taking this little tour with me; I look forward to us learning, together!
